| Title:
“Just Clownin’ Around” |
| Description:
Trompe L’oeil is a French Term, which loosely translated means
“trick of the eye”. It is a style of realism that, through
pronounced delineation between shadows and highlights, produces a
dimensional quality. To quote the “Arizona Republic Newspaper,
“When approaching this Luby painting, people get the impression
that they are seeing a shadow box containing some toys. Adding to
the illusion is a joker from a deck of cards, which appears to be
thumb-tacked onto the wooden frame of the shadow box. Only by examining
the piece from a foot or so away, does the viewer realize that it
is a two dimensional work of art”. It is Luby’s tribute
to clowns that make us laugh, and his style of painting always evokes
the question, “how did you do that?”, and they are real
conversation pieces. This work received several awards during exhibitions. |
